Qualitative Impact

The project has been instrumental in bringing a change in the views of its graduates regarding the perception of employment opportunities, belief on a more positive future, skills and behaviour. An assessment conducted by Tata Trusts found the following.

"Being at THS has given the young weavers the confidence of taking up handloom weaving as viable livelihood. Some have taken up full time weaving post CDEM, a few are more confident to take up and be comfortable with complex textures and fibre varieties, which increases income levels. They are very aware of quality, which they continue to maintain with family members also."

Through the program, the young weavers have developed a newfound respect for their traditional craft and traditional weaving techniques, and also a greater acceptance of use of technology. The same assessment also commended the School for producing "confident, articulate graduates with new and different thinking ('soch badala')."
